| Summary, etc | I tumori maligni della testa e collo insorgono in sedi di grande complessità anatomica e funzionale. Proprio per questo rappresentano una sfida per tutti coloro che se ne occupano. Stili di vita che non prevedano l’uso di tabacco e l’abuso di alcolici potranno limitarne l’incidenza così come la vaccinazione contro il papilloma virus responsabile dell’insorgenza di tumori nell’orofaringe. Il fine di ottenere una ottimale possibilità di guarigione con la massima conservazione delle funzioni specifiche dell’organo è stato raggiunto nei tumori in stadio limitato, mentre nei tumori localmente avanzati questo è un punto ancora da raggiungere. Novità nella diagnostica per immagini, la radioterapia, la chirurgia, i nuovi farmaci sono disponibili oggi per migliorare le possibilità di cura, ma è soprattutto la multidisciplinarietà nella decisione clinica, l’accuratezza della programmazione terapeutica, l’efficacia nel controllo delle cure che possono offrire al paziente una vita migliore. |
